Submit your photos of med student life in the new normal for a chance to win a £80 gift card. Read more for competition rules.

A lot has changed for medical students and lots of you are adapting to the new normal. From creative ways of studying at home to supporting your local community in crisis, medical students across the country are finding new innovative ways to stay connected, support their communities and continue studying.

We’d like our photo competition to reflect what’s happening in your life now so you can learn and inspire each other while we are still practising social distancing. We are no longer accepting elective photos. Instead, we’d like you to share photos or videos that show how you’re adapting to the new normal. Join your fellow medical students like Monisha Purokayastha, who sent this picture having just completed her first night shift.

“I had been part of the journey experienced by both patients and staff and had done what I could to make a positive impact. It was tiring, a steep learning curve and scary but truly fulfilling. Now, time for a well-deserved BREAKfast!”

Take part by sharing photos of yourself in the following settings.

  1. Home learning – what does your work set up look like? Share your study routine, favourite books and digital resources. What (and how) are you revising at the moment? Be creative!
  2. Helping in your local community – are you assisting vulnerable people and key workers with tasks such as babysitting, pet care, picking up medicine and grocery shipping? Capture your favourite moments.
  3. Working as a FY1 doctor – share your experiences on the wards (no patients images please!). Take a snap or a video of you wearing PPE or enjoying a well-deserved break. You could also tell us how your first shift went or how you’re adjusting to your new role. Find out more about guidelines for entering photos on the competition page.

You could win a £80 gift card. Find out more about the terms and conditions below.

We’re really looking forward to seeing your snaps. You could share your study setup and tips, just like Izabella @medic_bella

“Studying medicine can often be chaotic and time consuming. Therefore it’s important to have a good study routine with a good balance between self time and study time. This is my typical set up when I’m revising. It’s normally in bed, with my laptop, books and papers scattered everywhere ☺ therefore this would be the perfect photo for my MDU photo competition submission!”
